Hello beautiful people!
It is with honour that I AM able to present my latest work. ‘I am that, I am! 2-112’.
I feel I have done what I need to do for her to be at the end of the painting process. I AM constantly curious, amazed and in awe at how these works are birthing through the painting process. Painting for me is a process that kind of mashes up a lot of practices that I have been adding to the mix over quite a few years. If I were to sum the practice up I would be using words such as: meditative, mindful, honouring, allowing, permission, compassion, courage. My painting process has become a practice that is deeply aligned with my BEINGNESS of allowing all that I AM to come through without judgement. It is so healing and freeing for me... they have served me like magic carpet rides delivering me to fantastical spaces of wholeness and expansiveness and bliss! Over the past few months I have been discovering that the process of honoring the circles and any other marks that want to be created has itself tapped into a sacred energy that radiates through the works becoming an offering for people who allow themselves to really experience BEING with the work. It is truly something to be experienced and I AM still a little lost for words that would describe it in a way that would give it justice! These works hold an energy that truly is special.... I AM absolutely honoured to be a part of their birthing process!

OH my godness! Aaagghhh.... I AM so excited to share some AwEsOmE news! I AM going to Hawaii in March to attend my dream art retreat! Six years ago, I read the book 'Life, Paint & Passion' and it was the first book that I had read about art as a process that was really aligned with why I AM so passionate about my personal arts practice and has been central to how I choose to facilitate the creative process with people who attend my workshops! I AM so very blessed! I shared my dream as a status and a very special person has stepped forward and offered me a creative solution to help get me there! I plan to go forth and absorb as much of the experience as I can so that I can and come home and share my joy in a big fantabuliscious way! Bring it on! #iamblessed #artandhealing #thepaintingexperience #Hawaii #artretreat #paintingforlife #painting
The last couple of days I have had some early morning painting sessions. Yesterday was a particularly early start in the studio getting started at 4:30am today not as early but it certainly does seem to be a very productive time of the day at the moment... that may have something to do with the fact that it is school holidays! Being out of normal routine and having teens on school break has meant my time has been divided and I have struggled over the past 6 weeks to find big blocks of time to paint. Anyhow I think this latest work may just be finished. She just needs to sit where I can rest my gaze on her so she can whisper to me if she is finished or not! #energyart #divineenergy #healingart #sacredgeometry #iamthatiam
Sunday Bliss in the studio! Headphones on with the sound healings of Tom Kenyon! It's been a while since I've had a full day to romance with the paints! Yummy! Working on two new works at the moment. This one is emerging from an ugly duckling phase... Progress is slow and steady but she is birthing with small bouts of resistance and expanding flow! #iamthatiam #tomkenyon #creativity #energyart #art #artandhealing
Since having the privilege to experience a viewing of 'Song of the New Earth' recently I have been reflecting on the lusciousness of being human that often gets overlooked. I understand that each time I am exposed to a new reference for something and it resonates well within me... it can have the power to shift things and I am able to reframe my experience and understanding of things past, present and future. This has the power to change my physiology, my reality. A lot of what was shared in this documentary resonated with me and it crosses over to how I use colour in my artworks. Since my arts practice moved into intuitive painting which is really another word for a deep practice of expressive art, I have learned to let go of outcomes with regards to the painting process and aesthetics. The old me used to show up to the blank canvas with a sense of fear, and I would churn over ideas before finally beginning a painting with a definite plan. I would always have a notion of what image I was trying to achieve. Now the new me, goes to a blank canvas with an unencumbered sense of embracing all the possibilities of a new work, ready to listen within to what colours I am drawn to and what strokes are wanting to be born. I also wait for the work to tell me if it finished. I suppose why this is relevant to the 'Song of the New Earth' documentary is that I believe I am working with energy, Divine energy wanting to be expressed through me! Through vibrations that I am tuning into which are then expressed via the vibrational levels of colours.
I seem to be doing things back to front. Through the practice of intuitive painting, I am finding my paintings are teaching me things after they are completed! It occurred to me after watching this documentary and another little video that turned up on Facebook which showed Sargy Mann, an artist who is now blind that paints and it really got me thinking about the vibrations of colour. We all know that there are proven theories out there about the effects of colour on the moods and even physical effects on people. I have had the sense that art as a tool for wellbeing can be beneficial for more than just for the artist in the process of creation but for the viewers who allow themselves to truly engage with the finished artworks. I truly believe that artworks have the potential to hold and radiate energy. I believe artworks carry two forms of energy, the energy of creation that flows through the artist to the surface and the energy of the colours and possibly forms. Being that I have already identified that my works are a form of prayer and/or meditation.... I see my arts practice as being one and the same with my spiritual and human practice! I simply cannot separate them. BEING an arts practitioner has assisted to unify previously disjointed aspects of my BEINGNESS. I AM now so much more than an arts practitioner and I hesitate to define it for fear of setting limitations for myself. I am believing more and more with absolute joy that the human potential is bigger than most of us can even begin to imagine!
